The Interlochen Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Board is composed of dedicated community leaders, business owners, and township representatives committed to fostering economic growth and enhancing the vitality of Interlochen’s downtown district. Board members bring diverse perspectives and expertise, working collaboratively to support local businesses, plan infrastructure improvements, and promote community engagement.

Development Plan

Section 1 7 of Public Act 197 requires that when tax increment financing is used to finance a development, a development plan must be prepared containing all of the information required by Section l 7(2). This development plan follows the requirements mandated by Section 1 7 by providing the required information in a format corresponding to the lettered paragraphs of Section l 7(2) of the Public Act.

 

Accomplishments/Projects/Promotions

Sculptures - We jointly purchased numerous aluminum sculptures for placement at various locations in the district pursuant to our development plan goal of public art installations

Trail - We obtained easements, contracted for design and engineering, advocated successfully for path clearing by the township, are seeking bids for partial trail construction. and we are planning for fund raising, pursuant to our development plan goals ofbike lane improvements, new civic facilities, and residential improvement

Light Up Interl0chen - We have made annual contributions to Light-Up Interlachen, a chamber event, and purchased decorative storage sheds to store the lights and equipment in the off season, pursuant to our development plan goal offacilitating community events

Website - We have contracted for website design and hosting pursuant to our development plan goal of website development to keep the community informed

Sidewalk in Village - We are in early stages of planning a sidewalk from First Street to Eleventh Street, as an extension of our trail, pursuant to our development plan goal of sidewalks in the village

Decorative Street Lighting - We are in the early stages of exploring decorative street lighting along J Maddy Parkway, pursuant to our development plan goal of streetscape

Tart/Betsie Valley Trail Connection - We are in the early stages of planning for connecting the district to the Betsie Valley Trail, and possibly the TART Trail, pursuant to our development plan goal ofregional trail connections

Community Thanksgiving Dinner - We have contributed to a free, community Thanksgiving dinner pursuant to our development plan goal of facilitating community events
